Barry O'Connor

Chief Executive Officer

Barry began his professional career qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers and Lybrand (now PWC). He joined ICC Bank before making the move to McInerney Homes in 1988 – the largest house builder in Ireland at the time – where he held a number of executive positions before becoming it’s CEO.

He set up Genesis Homes in 2012 to focus on the need to bring private investment into the residential construction market which has led to the current partnership with Matter Real Estate. Barry has overseen the construction of 25,000 houses both in Ireland and the UK over the course of his career to date.

Barry is an Executive Director of Dwellings.

Jonathan O’Connor

Chief Operations Officer

Jonathan has over 20 years’ experience in the real estate industry across many asset classes. He began his career with KPMG (Dublin & New York) where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He spent 14 years with Avestus Capital Partners (Quinlan Private) where he had responsibility for a large real estate portfolio. He then became CFO of Capital Assets and was responsible for the set up and implementation of their investment and underwriting platform.

He has extensive experience of deal origination, deal structuring, delivery of asset business plans and dealing with private equity partners to ensure there is close alignment of all parties through each stage of the investment life cycle.

Jonathan is an Executive Director of Dwellings.

Stephen Hereward

Chief Finance Officer

Stephen has extensive global experience across the construction, healthcare, travel, renewable energy and professional services sectors.

As Finance Director of Action Health, he led the sale of the Primary Care Centre portfolio in 2019. He held senior finance positions in JAC Travel (one of the world’s leading suppliers of online hotel accommodation for the global travel industry), BMI Healthcare (the largest private Healthcare provider in the UK with over 54 hospitals and treatment centres) and BDO in an audit and taxation advisory role.

A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland, he also has qualifications in Corporate Finance and Funding, and International Treasury Management from the Association of Corporate Treasurers.

Stephen is the Company Secretary of Dwellings.

Peter is a Construction Economics graduate with extensive experience in managing all aspects of residential development projects. He has been involved in the design, development and turnkey delivery of multiple projects in both residential and commercial areas and is experienced in property services.

As Regional Manager Peter ensures the coordination of multi-disciplinary teams to bring Dwellings residential schemes to the market.

Sinead Walsh

New Homes Sales & PRS Property Surveyor

Sinead Walsh is a Chartered Surveyor with over 20 years’ experience in working in the property industry. She has worked in both the private and public sectors and has vast experience in sales, asset management, PRS portfolio management; lettings, asset management, budget setting and Residential Tenancies Act process legislation. She also has extensive experience advising banks, receivers and institutional landlords on the PRS sector.

Sinead oversees the sales and asset strategy of all developments. This includes pre-acquisition advice, pricing strategies, show home delivery, pre-launch Marketing strategies, sales advice, agent procurement and legal commissioning.

Miriam Nelson

Project Management

With over 30 years’ experience in home building Miriam understands the different layers it takes to deliver a Dwellings home – from foundations to finished home. Her role involves developing, maintaining and assisting project performance, by acting as a point of communication between the sites, management and purchaser. This is done by coordinating and working alongside all levels within the business to ensure schedules run smoothly and efficiently and that our purchaser gets the best home possible.

Alan graduated from GMIT with a degree in Construction and Building Management. He spent 14 years with McInerney Homes and was responsible for the completion of many large-scale residential developments during this time.

As Head of Construction, he is responsible for the successful completion of each residential project.

Alan Cunniffe

Head of Planning & Commerical

Alan is an experienced Chartered Town Planner with residential and commercial experience spanning 20 years. Having worked in both the public and private sectors prior to joining Dwellings, Alan brings a wealth of practical experience, leadership and project management skills.

Previous experience in managing multi-disciplinary design teams at local authority level across both forward planning and development management has provided Alan with detailed working knowledge in preparing land use plans, major planning proposals and working collaboratively with national & regional bodies, local authorities, state agencies and the private sector. In his role as Regional Manager with an approved housing body, he has managed a number of high-profile acquisitions and leases.

As Head of Planning & Commercial, Alan and his team ensures that Dwellings deliver high quality residential projects with a clear focus on quality: in design, landscape and finish.
